POETRY

My You

I stay busy all day.
Endlessly, from morning to midnight.
I grind all day for my dreams.
My biggest fear, I'll say,
is my schedule not being so tight.
And then, I'll have those dreams.

I truly fear revisiting
the you that I remember.
I hate that I'm still awaiting
the you that I had to surrender.

In my daydreams,
I see us at our spot,
around those benches
sharing ice creams,
devouring every snack.
I remember all our lists
and the promises we made.
Every roadtrip, and every scenic view,
takes my heart back to you.

I try to bury and conceal,
but the quiet evenings never fail to reveal
the big smile I wore,
the one you eventually tore.

I will always keep running away,
but maybe my heart will always stay.
