Still Addressed to You

The letter has been sitting in my drawer
for decades and decades,
With an address written on it—
one I could never bring myself to send it to.
Written over, crossed out,
and rewritten a thousand times,
yet it still holds only a piece of me.
An emotion.
A memory
I could never bring myself to forget.
And somehow, you still live in them.
The words,
the memories,
the emotions—
they still carry your name,
as if they breathe it with every page.
Thousands of letters sit in my drawer.
Yet I can never let anyone read them...
Not even you.
