अर्ज़ किया है—
ऐ दिमाग, ऐ दिमाग,
तेरे अंदर इतने विचार हैं?
इतने सवाल, इतनी बातें,
आख़िर इनका कोई जवाब नहीं है?
तू कोशिश करता है
अपने विचारों को दुनिया तक पहुँचाने की,
तू कोशिश करता है
अपनी गहराई को समझाने की।
पर ये ज़ालिम दुनिया भी अजीब है—
शब्द तो सुन लेती है,
पर उनके पीछे छिपे
विचार नहीं समझती।
तू सोचता रह जाता है,
और दुनिया गुज़र जाती है—
बिना समझे
कि तेरे अंदर कितना कुछ था।

Arz kiya hai—
Ae dimaag, ae dimaag,
tere andar itne vichaar hain?
Itne sawaal, itni baatein,
aakhir inka koi jawaab nahin hai?
Tu koshish karta hai
apne vichaaron ko duniya tak pahunchane ki,
tu koshish karta hai
apni gehraai ko samjhaane ki.
Par ye zaalim duniya bhi ajeeb hai—
shabd to sun leti hai,
par unke peeche chhipe
vichaar nahin samajhti.
Tu sochta reh jaata hai,
aur duniya guzar jaati hai—
bina samjhe
ki tere andar kitna kuch tha.
English
I present to you—
O mind, O mind,
why are there so many thoughts inside you?
So many questions, so many things,
yet, in the end, is there no answer to any of them?
You try
to carry your thoughts to the world,
you try
to make the world understand your depth.
But this cruel world is strange—
it listens to the words,
but does not understand
the thoughts hidden behind them.
You are left thinking,
while the world passes by—
without understanding
how much there was inside you.
