A Grin

Chapter 1

Here comes the guy the troop’s waiting for,
Prettily imperfect yet imperfectly pretty.
Arriving late to the packed arena,
She makes herself comfortable.

Donning a red shirt and black trousers,
She is the bubbliest girl you can imagine.
Wearing a grin that can move mountains,
She kickstarts the show.

With ears serving their purpose,
They leaned into the words spilled.
Underlining her unmatched generosity,
She sweet-talks each of the attendees.

Chapter 2

Pleased with his unrhyming stanzas,
She reached out with a cheeky request.
Taken aback by her uncanny act,
He swam through the playful waters.

Those sugar-rich words he scribbled
Would soon become her memoir.
Like inscriptions in a caveman’s den,
He wished they’d endure for eternity.

Sitting across the virtual window,
The duo chuckled at each other.
Straight from the fifty-fifth storey,
He flew high, hazy and handsome.

Chapter 3

Arriving late to yet another visit,
The duo sat across from each other like five-year-olds.
Starting a convo that never really took off,
They began scribbling as always.

While they don’t acknowledge or pinpoint it,
A cappuccino brewed between them.
Wondering where this beverage was even headed,
They looked into each other’s eyes.

Teasing the cat-themed attire she wore,
He penned a singer-tinged note.
With redness taking over her cheeks,
They became a pair then and there.
