Inaam — Reward
Original ·

Translation · English

Have you forgotten that you once belonged to me,
or was there never anything between us at all?
And if we were never meant to be together,
then why not?
How not?
Circumstances turned out such
that we could never meet again.

My heart still refuses to accept
that we may never meet once more.

Even silence has stopped answering now.
What needed to be said
remained resting within the eyes.

Some questions remained unfinished,
some answers grew afraid of being spoken.

I stood still,
while time kept moving.
What once felt like my own
slowly became a stranger.

A little of you,
a little of me.
What existed between us
was something neither of us could say.

And if this is the reward,
then so be it.
To drown my soul
in the memories of you —
then so be it.
I remain here,
you remain there,
and between us,
silence remains.

Even silence has stopped answering now.
