Kashmakash — Dilemma
Original ·

Translation · English

If people were always meant to meet,
then why would anyone ever part?
If life were meant only for laughter,
then why would anyone ever cry?
If living were the only certainty,
then why must human beings die?

The heart wishes to forget memories,
yet also preserve them.
If the answer to this dilemma were known,
why would anyone become a poet?

If those memories were truly beautiful,
then why should they be forgotten?
If destiny was already written beforehand,
then why would people pray at all?

And if life alone was meant to be,
then why must human beings die?

If the answer to this dilemma were known, why would anyone become a poet?
